Dzama Vanilla 3 ans is a 3-year-old aged rum into which a pod of the finest Madagascar vanilla has been inserted.
The rum was previously aged for 3 years in ex-whisky Islay oak barrels (Strathisla distillery).
Nico's tasting notes
The nose immediately develops a lovely, well-rounded vanilla, a beautiful infusion that has drawn out all the complex, delicate aroma of the pod. You can imagine its dark, oily skin, and guess at its fragrant beans.
The palate is sweet and tangy. In addition to the vanilla in syrup form, there's a toasty, caramelized woodiness that reinforces the rum's dark side. The cane-sugar syrup is spiked with chili pepper, evoking barley sugar with a little time.
