Evan Williams Single Barrel 2013-2021 is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon. While two years of aging are required for this designation, this single barrel benefits from eight. Its mash bill is composed of 78% corn, 10% rye, and 12% barley.
The distillation was carried out at the Heaven Hill distillery, as with Elijah Craig.
Florian's tasting notes
The color is amber with long, rapid tears.
On the nose, thick, creamy, with macadamia nut, nutmeg, marzipan and pink pepper. Floral: lilac and violet. Lovely returns of leather, old wood and pastry. All in all, a gourmet experience.
The palate is drier than the nose suggested, with a creamy texture dominated by pink pepper and spices. Nutmeg and leather are present. Baked apple appears. Very pleasant lilac notes develop in the length. Floral, sweet and bitter all at once. A balanced woodiness.
A very long finish on flowers and nutmeg.
"Beautifully made, characterful and well balanced. This Heaven Hill Bourbon is very pleasant..."
