Facundo Eximo is the first in a series of exceptional aged rums created in tribute to the founder of one of the greatest rum houses: Don Facundo Bacardi.
It's a blend of rums aged for 10 years in oak barrels. The name Eximo ("free") is linked to a particularity that makes it unique. The rums in this cuvée are blended before ageing. This perilous exercise requires the expertise of a great Maestro Ronero.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is both light and caramelized, with familiar notes of vanilla, toasted oak and toasted spices. The toasted oak gives off a few hints of coconut, which become increasingly roasted, to the point of touching coffee.
With a little air, the rum takes on body and roundness. The American oak unfurls all its deliciousness of coconut, vanilla, tobacco and soft wood. A touch of marzipan completes the picture and sets the gourmet character, despite a slight return of roasted coffee.
The palate is as charming as the nose, with an extremely smooth, velvety entry. This roundness inhibits the more full-bodied aspects of wood and spice, leaving only the sweetness of vanilla and coconut milk.
The finish is a little roasted, with a hint of blond tobacco smoke.
"A very smooth and suave rum, well imbued with the flavors of American oak..."
