The 26th vintage of the “Exceptional Cask Selection” collection produced by the Foursquare brand is called Magisterium.
Behind this exceptional vintage lies a “Single Blended Rum”. According to the Gargano classification, this term translates to a blend of two types of rums (heavy and light) from the same distillery. These are rums distilled in pot stills and column stills. This type of blend is notably the signature of the Foursquare distillery.
Magisterium has an age count of 16 years with aging in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. On closer inspection, the blend consists of the following three rums:
- A rum aged for 16 years entirely in ex-Bourbon American oak barrels,
- A rum aged for 3 years in Bourbon barrels, then 13 years in old Oloroso Sherry barrels,
- A rum that spent 9 years in ex-Bourbon casks, followed by 7 years in Oloroso Sherry casks.
All aging took place in the tropics of Barbados.
