This Grosperrin Petite Champagne cognac is a 1969 vintage that belonged to a family of notaries who had lived in Cognac for several generations. It is part of the estate of the father, who bequeathed his stocks to his wife and son, a notary like himself.
The father had bought this lot in April 1970, thinking to resell it at a better price a few years later. At the time, this was a common practice for a few well-informed individuals. But the oil crisis coupled with the end of the Vietnam war caused cognac prices to plummet.
When he died, his wife and son no longer got along, and the estate stalled for several decades until the Grosperrin firm proposed a solution.
Since distillation, this cognac has been stored under state control by the Cognac Economic Organization. It was bottled in April 2021 after a slight reduction in alcohol content.
