This Grosperrin 1973 Petite Champagne is a vintage cognac that has been bottled brut de fût. It comes from a family of notaries who have lived in Cognac for several generations.
The lot was part of the private stock of the family's father. He had bought it from one of his clients in January 1974, who was then the president of one of the most important Cognac houses. This lot came from the distillery and cellars of a house still renowned today. When the father died, the son and mother no longer got on, and the succession was not settled for many years. That's when the Grosperrin trading house came up with a solution.
Since January 25, 1974, cognac has been stored under state control by ORECO. L'Organisation Économique du Cognac is the regional storage and ageing specialist serving the Cognac industry since 1932. The barrels were placed in an old, very damp cellar on the banks of the Charente in the town of Cognac, which has since become the Musée du Cognac.
This cognac was bottled in August 2016 at its natural degree.
