This Grosperrin Cognac N°35-41 Grande Champagne comes from a property located in Bonneuil, one of the best terroirs in this production area.
The 3 casks purchased by Grosperrin from this family in 2012 come from the undivided estate of André Noblet, who had made 3 different blends with his own father's eaux-de-vie. This is one of them. The casks of these precious cognacs were hidden in the attic of the farmhouse, on a wooden floor.
The history of this property is remarkable. André's father, Jules Noblet, mayor of his commune throughout the war, and his wife, Berthe, were early Resistance fighters and active members of the Bureau des Opérations Aériennes from 1942. They took part in important missions such as the destruction of the Angoulême powder magazine, and helped many others. Although the Charentes was then a land of resistance, they were denounced by a Frenchman in March 1944 and arrested at home. Deported to Germany, Berthe and Jules Noblet never returned. The people of Bonneuil re-elected this courageous man as head of their commune in 1945, hoping in vain for his return. Prisoner in Germany from the start of the war, André learned of the death of his parents on his return.
Made many years ago, this blend of two batches of cognacs from the same estate was bottled brut de fût in September 2020.
