This Grosperrin N°52-22 Fins Bois cognac comes from a small holding of a family of winegrowers located in the commune of La Brousse, near Matha.
The current producer, born in 1952, still owns cognacs distilled by his father and grandfather. It was only in 1950 that the estate acquired a 16-hectoliter Maresté still, which then ran on wood (during the day, for brouillis) and coal (at night, for bonne-chauffes). Previously, as on most Charente estates, only a small 500- or 600-litre boiler was used to distill the wine production.
Bottled since 2000, this cognac is the result of blending two batches over 20 years ago by the winemaker himself, on the advice of a leading Cognac house. It aged for a long time in a damp, earthen cellar.
The cognac was bottled brut de fût in March 2021 by the Grosperrin house, with no reduction in alcohol content.
