La Compagnie des Indes Thaïlande 8 ans 43°: Description and customer reviews

Compagnie des Indes Thaïlande 8 ans comes from a secret distillery. Nevertheless, it is the house with the largest stock of old Thai rum.

This rum was distilled in February 2014 in column from local molasses. It was then aged in an ex-bourbon oak barrel for 8 years, part of which was spent in Thailand.

398 bottles were made from this single barrel, number TRD19.
Please note that other barrels are also available. If you are looking for a specific barrel number, please contact us beforehand.

Nico's tasting notes

On the nose, there's a familiar, and still effective, combination of molasses rum and American oak barrel. The roasting of the wood brings gourmet notes of caramelized nuts, sprinkled with vanilla and toasted coconut.

Aeration reveals a little more of the distillate, releasing light notes of baked sugar and crisp, tangy white fruits. Sweet spices and coconut milk then gradually replace their veil of caramelized sweetness.

On the palate, the magic of the bourbon barrel works once again. Concentrated vanilla, blond tobacco and toasted coconut permeate the taste buds, coiling comfortably and delivering a kind of caramelized almond nougatine that's unstoppable. The aromatic concentration does its job, and there's no need for extra power to appreciate the resolutely savory side of this rum.

The finish is soft without being sweet, the soft wood is encrusted with a few crushed peppercorns.

"A simply delicious, gourmet rum, with no tricks..."
