Longueteau Genesis Amber Batch 1 72.3° : Description and customer reviews

Longueteau Genesis ambré is an agricultural rum from Guadeloupe. It is both a brut de fût and a brut de colonne. It is therefore a true full proof, meaning that it has been casked without any reduction in alcohol content, and bottled in the same way, at 72.3%.

This rum comes from a single variety of sugar cane, the red cane grown on plot n°1. Aged for 2 years in new French oak barrels from the Tronçais forest.

The % alcohol content of rum is given as an indication and may vary from batch to batch and vintage to vintage.

Nico's tasting notes

The nose is extremely sweet for the degree indicated on the label. This is a lovely vanilla cane candy, sweet and fruity. The rum becomes increasingly mellow, sometimes verging on marron glacé. One thinks of candied cane with almost caramelized juice. Aeration brings slightly stronger notes, such as pepper and bagasse, but these fail to break the overall sweet mood.

The palate is round but intense, with a fiery rum that embraces the taste buds relentlessly, but without stinging or burning them either. A few drops are enough to release sweet, vanilla-scented cane juice flavors that are also authentically peppery. The roundness is truly surprising, and you can even taste the fat of a cane syrup. Fermentation notes appear on the second sip, along with some lime zest, for a lovely snapshot of terroir.

The finish is greedy, with a round, enticing cane juice that quickly makes you want to go back for more.

"Compared with the white, this Genesis has gained in greediness what it has lost in freshness...".

Greedy, really greedy. (Especially after a little aeration). Perhaps not marked enough by the wood, which would be its only flaw. The freshness of fresh cane, despite the wood. Quite successful 🙂

I already had the Genesis white, so I wanted to compare... it's really good, the alcohol is perfectly integrated and there's a little gourmand side that the white doesn't have, in short I'm not disappointed. Top sample
