This Genesis rum from the Guadeloupean Longueteau distillery is produced from sugar cane of a single variety, red cane, grown on a single plot of land, No. 9.
After distillation in 2018, the rum rested for 24 months in a stainless steel vat, where it was stirred and aerated regularly.
The other characteristic of this rum is of course its high strength: 72.7° . It has not been reduced, making it a very aromatic and powerful tasting rum.
The % alcohol content of the rum is given as an indication and may vary from batch to batch, vintage to vintage. This is the 3rd batch.
Nico's tasting notes
In brief: cane - pepper - fresh - limpid - powerful - spicy - bagasse -...
The nose opens with a lovely peppery cane, fine and concentrated, as if contained in a pearl. The soul of the cane is preserved, intact, with a straight profile. This cane au naturel is necessarily well rounded, but also herbaceous, green, fresh, in the sense of just cut. The impression of having a rum that's just come out of the column is very successful, and a joy to behold.
With aeration, the rum expands and acquires a milky quality, before simply concentrating on the cane. The cane is candied and peppery, upright in its boots, proud and unpretentious. The fiber is soft and fragrant, giving the impression of being close to the crushing process.
The entry into the mouth is incredibly smooth, the rum settling everywhere, in every nook and cranny. The power comes from afar, but it's definitely there! The luscious cane builds in power and remains on the bagasse for a long moment, before the chillies and spices (pepper) take over to maintain the intensity. What strength!
The finish leaves us ruffled, with a slight bitterness of lime zest.
"This brut de colonne is a unique experience that the distillery has chosen to share with us. It's an authentic expression of rhum agricole, as if you were there..."

I'm disgusted, I pay for a sample thinking I'll receive a beautiful bottle like the photo. And I get a plastic bottle with a label, a little sad

Very good rum
Surprisingly syrupy on the palate, the taste of rum lingers for a long time.
Thank you Longueteau

Try it at least once as a sample, give it at least 15 minutes for the nose, as much for the palate. The finish is exceptional. Not all that expensive, as a small dose will give you a long, good time.

Excellent tasting, faithful to the description.

On the nose 👃🏻: it's very natural, the pure juice of sugar cane is embellished by this beautiful intensity, but without being too lively either. It's fresh, really well sweetened and a little vegetal. There's a hint of pepper that follows, and just a hint of lime zest that remains discreet. With aeration, you'll be able to perceive them better, gaining even more sweetness and roundness, so give it time. Truly, this is fresh cane on its unadorned pedestal, and it's already a little delicacy.
In the mouth 👅: what an attack! I get a really big sweetness, the sugar cane is really there and spreads all over my mouth, it's pure and fresh. Obviously, it's very hot, so prepare your palate with a drop before coming back to it more frankly if you don't want to burn yourself. Subsequent sips are just as intense, with just a few drops each time bringing a strong amplitude of flavor to your taste buds. The high alcohol content only serves to sublimate the product, integrating it perfectly. It's greedy, unctuous, the sugar seems cooked, the cane is candied. It's spicy on the tongue, with a very expressive green pepper that holds well in the mouth.
As you can imagine, the finish is long, thanks to an intensity that takes a long time to subside. It stings in the mouth and heats up in the throat. The pepper lingers and we find our lime zest on the final note 👌
It's such an intense, gourmand rum that a 2cl tasting will keep you going for a long time, coming back to it in 8 to 10 micro sips easily 🔥 This is clearly the kind of bottle to have in your collection. No need to accumulate several, you'll take too long to finish it anyway before considering the next one ^^
Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health! I think it's a good time to remind people of this with such extreme products 😄

It's true that the bottle is not cheap, but the beverage that is there is magnificent.
A palette of fruit on the nose and palate despite the 72°.
For me a pure delight to share.

An exceptional product, with an incredible range of aromas for this brut de colonne, and a "Wow" effect. The 72 degrees are easily passed. What's more, the packaging and bottle are sublime. To be enjoyed by connoisseurs, just a few centiliters are enough to delight the nose and the palate.
