This 7-year-old Montebello rum was distilled in 2015 from pure cane juice. It is part of the collection entitled "La Rencontre".
With this range of finishes, the Guadeloupe-based company aims to create an encounter between two worlds where the history and know-how of spirits meet.
For this second cuvée, the rum was casked in August 2015, then given a 125-day finish. Pommeau AOC de Bretagne barrels were selected for this finish. They come from the Gorvello distillery, which has specialized in the production of cider apple brandy since 1984.
Bottling took place in September 2022 without reduction. This limited series produced 1,560 numbered bottles.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose of this agricultural rum has everything of a creamy and vanilla pastry, where slowly roasted and candied apples rest. The wood fiber is extremely soft, soaked in vegetable milks and butterscotch.
With a little ventilation, the sugar cane area regains its rights. In a still candied atmosphere, oily citrus fruits bring precision. In the same way, the vegetable and peppery fiber of the cane brings a little boost and rigor.
The palate is very pleasant and pleasant from the attack, with an unmistakable agricultural signature and perfectly regulated power. The patinated and mature sugar cane juice is at the center of the debates, it is as generous as it is skillfully illuminated. The soft, vanilla oak brings a lovely texture in the mid-palate, to properly introduce a subtly spicy tarte tatin.
The finish also gives pride of place to cane juice, with a slight accent of fermentation and very oily lime peel.
“A very beautiful composition around cane and roasted apple…”
