Montebello Vieux Cuvée La Brigade 47.2°: Description and customer reviews

La Brigade is a cuvée created by the Montebello distillery in Guadeloupe, in collaboration with the General, Commander of the Gendarmerie forces in Guadeloupe and the northern islands.

This is a blend of two aged rums, aged for 6 and 8 years in American and French oak barrels.

This special edition produced 971 numbered copies.

Nico's tasting notes

The nose is a mixture of a warmly humid, tropical character and a great brew of sweet spices, with vanilla taking the lead. The exotic fruits are more than ripe and candied, they melt into a sweet syrup to which the oak barrel adds a little framework.

Aeration introduces a lovely complexity of pits, orange peel and walnut liqueur. The candied fruit that joins the party then signals an old-fashioned Guadeloupean style, which is a pleasure to rediscover.

The palate is full of candied fruit and cane, so this rum's greediness unfolds generously and without delay. A hint of acidity adds balance and elegance, while the copper notes of pits and resin sparkle. This pastry-chic side then comes to rest on a cocoa-coated woodiness, in a rum that ultimately has a lot to offer.

The finish is dotted with pits, bitter seeds, cocoa and dark raisins, with a touch of molasses-tinged coffee.

"A beautiful gourmet complexity nestles at the heart of this debonair rum..."

If you like it, we recommend :

  • A beautiful blend of molasses and agricultural...
  • This finish whisky is a real delicacy...
