Following the closure of the Nine Leaves distillery at the end of 2023 after a short decade of existence, La Maison & Velier has acquired the last batches in aging.
Among these was this vintage 2017. This rum benefited from aging in new barrels whose Mizunara oak comes from Russia. It is one of the 5 vintages of the Unsun Karuta collection.
This rum is produced from Kokuto sugar from the Okinawa archipelago. But Yoshiharu Takeuchi, inspired by the production of Scottish whisky, paid particular attention to the choice of water. This one benefits from a great purity and comes from a source close to the distillery located in the city of Otsu.
This “Four of Guru” vintage is the result of a blend of 4 barrels.
