Old Brothers FWI returns with Batch 3, a blend of molasses rums from Barbados created by Old Brothers.
The typical style of the island is respected. It is composed of 30% pot-still rums and 70% column rums. The distilleries represented are Foursquare (58.5%) and West Indies Rum Distillery (42.5%).
Aging is entirely tropical. No fewer than 7 American oak casks, which had previously held Bourbon, were blended to create this new blend. The color is natural, and no cold filtration was used. A total of 2662 bottles were blended.
While waiting for the tasting note of this new batch, here is Nico's tasting note of the previous batch: Old Brothers FWI Batch 2 47.1°
Yoann's tasting notes
On the nose, the solvent is quite present. This glue gradually drifts onto a vanilla flank dotted with finely toasted coconut shavings. Tender, mellow oak is carried by vanilla. A little nougat is revealed, carried by a few hints of nuts.
The palate is soft and gourmand, without being sweet. A bounty comes straight to us, with its heart of coconut enrobed in almost melting milk chocolate. A fine woody concentration follows, with a sprinkling of nuts such as caramelized pecan.
The finish is moderately long and very slightly peppery. This pepper is even slightly smoky.
