After rum, bourbon and Irish whiskey, the range of Peaky Blinder spirits has now been extended to include Spiced Dry Gin.
Produced by Sadler's Distillery, a member of the Halewood Group, not far from Birmingham, this gin is made in state-of-the-art Arnold Holstein stills.
No fewer than 9 botanicals are added during distillation: juniper, coriander, angelica, cardamom, orange peel, lemon peel, ginger, maniguette and South Asian cubeb.
Sadler's, which has been distributing beer and spirits since 1861, is well known to the English. It is located in the West Midlands, near Birmingham, where gangs such as the Peaky Blinders operated in the late 19th century. Thomas Gilbert, also known as Kevin Mooney, appears on the label. He is said to have initiated most of the land takeovers by rival gangs.
