Père Labat Soleil 55° is an amber agricultural rum. It has spent 6 months in oak casks.
Ideal for a refined ti-punch.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is full of cane, and the rum has not lied about the promise of its name. This fresh cane comes to us, glowing in the sunshine, and the charm works effortlessly. There's a certain power behind it all, and an impression of rusticity too, which doesn't spoil anything, quite the contrary.
Aeration sets the rum on a more mineral, clean and slightly iodized side. Fermentation notes embrace spice and citrus bitterness, the profile tightens and loses none of its authenticity.
The palate is disconcertingly easy, with a round, sweet cane that coats the taste buds. The bagasse is still gorged with a peppery juice that's just beginning to ferment. The limes are totally in the grip of this very round vesou, candied and devoid of bitterness. The rum swells on the palate and once again delivers the warmth of its sunbeams.
The finish is round, rather oily, with the sweet cane remaining, whole and slightly peppery.
"A very pretty, very gourmet expression of the Marie-Galantais terroir, sublimated by a well-felt rest in wood..."
