Picon Bière is a bitter of French origin, also called “bitter”. Its creation by Gaétan Picon dates back to 1837.
Although originating from Marseille, it is very popular in the North and East of France. Its unique recipe combines dried orange peels, gentian roots and cinchona peels. Everything is macerated in alcohol with a sugar syrup and caramel.
It is usually consumed as an aperitif and mixed with beer. The recommended proportions are around 3 cl of Picon for 25 cl of beer.
