Privateer Navy Yard is a range of single cask rums produced in Ipswich, Massachusetts (USA) by the Privateer distillery. The name is inspired by the shipyard where the oldest warship still afloat can be seen. It was also in this Boston shipyard that the famous Privateers operated.
Navy Yard is made from Grade A molasses. It comes from a single farm in Guatemala. Once the molasses has been mixed with water and fermented for several days, it is distilled twice:
first in a pot-still, then a second time in a column. Aging takes place in 53-gallon (200-liter) new American oak barrels.
After a minimum of 2 years' ageing, Navy Yard is bottled barrel by barrel, without reduction.
Here barrel No. 538 is bottled at 54.1°.
