Rasta Morris Bielle Ambre The Tipsy Turtle is an agricultural rum from Marie-Galante. Belgian bottler Asta Morris went shopping at the Bielle distillery for this "tipsy turtle". This is a young amber rum aged in foudres and bourbon casks. It has not been cold-filtered, and its color is entirely natural.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is rather dry in its first movement, and the cane juice comes through like candy sugar. From this freshness emanate hints of citrus zest, which become increasingly candied with time.
With a little air, the cane bark, still outlined by the pepper, becomes a little rounder and sweeter. The citrus zest is also more candied, and the rum takes a more comfortable, mellow turn.
The palate is soft and tasty, offering the cane and taste buds a moment of calm, simple and delicious. This is a quiet rum, where the vesou has just been candied by sweet spices and still-young wood.
The finish declines the cane on its citrus side, with a slight bitterness of lime zest.
"A rather placid rum, with a cane that takes time to settle on the taste buds..."
