This white rum follows the Cuvée Centenaire produced in a limited edition of 10,000 bottles in 2016.
To extend the commemoration of its centenary, the distillery has developed a second version of the white rum “Coeur de distillation”. This rum comes from the 2015 harvest.
It was brewed for 15 months in vats before being bottled.
Nico's tasting notes
In brief: clean and balanced - cane - exotic fruits and flowers - citrus - gourmet - sweet pepper
On the nose, rum asserts itself at its most agricultural and authentic. It's straightforward and balanced, sending out its aromatic power without burnish or alcohol. Notes of cane, brown sugar, cereals, fruit and exotic flowers follow a taut line. The roundness is not exaggerated, and the minerality brings just the right amount of precision to underline the rightness.
With a little aeration, the focus shifts to citrus fruits, a zest of lime or candied combava, always with a balance between bitterness and mellowness. The cane is greedy, with a hint of melted milk chocolate.
On the palate, the rum is silky and gourmand, almost creamy. After a bright, peppery retro-olfaction, it relaxes into notes of cane and velvety exotic fruits like mango, persimmon and ripe pineapple. The pepper brings a little grain, without stinging, like a lightly spiced incense paper applied to the tongue.
The finish gives way to long-lasting cane, with tangy notes of red fruit or riper, exotic fruits such as papaya.
"A very fine white rum that's just right and delicious, both for Ti-punch and tasting..."
