Nova is the first batch of the All-Island series launched by the Renegade distillery. It is a blend of aged rums from the different terroirs of the island of Grenada.
This vintage marks the first bottling of this type produced by Mark Reynier's distillery. Indeed, until this edition, Renegade only produced rums highlighting a specific terroir of the island. Nova is in some ways a synthesis of the aromatic potential of Grenada.
Each rum is distilled in pot stills or column stills and then aged individually, farm by farm and field by field. The terroirs represented are New Bacolet, Old Bacolet, Pearls, Nursery, Westerhall and Hope.
The Yellow Lady, Lacalome Red, Lodger, Cain and Clean ester canes come from the 2021 and 2022 harvests. The pure cane juice benefited from an average fermentation of 60 hours for each rum.
The blend of aged rums was made from:
- 40% first fill bourbon barrels,
- 42% new American oak barrels,
- 14% French oak barrels,
- 5% new barrels made from Andean oak barrels.
