Rum Nation 8 Years Barbados is a selection from the Italian independent bottling house led by Fabio Rossi. Used to helping us discover all the different rum regions, it has once again set down its bags in Barbados.
This rum, aged for 8 years in a tropical climate, is a very gentle expression of the island's rums.
Nico's tasting note
The nose opens with a fruity rum, with a patina of waxed wood and encaustic. One discovers yellow fruits such as peach, mirabelle plum, as well as some very ripe white grapes. We also find a small cherry nestled in a coconut marzipan.
The aeration reveals a gourmet side, like these cherry and cream sweets. It's also an opportunity for the wood to come to the fore. It is a soft American oak, bursting with vanilla, toasted coconut and light tobacco.
The palate is also very soft, buttery and vanilla. Sweet caramel lines the palate with its cane sugar syrup flavours. On the mid-palate, the rum takes on brown flavours such as chocolate, tobacco and toasted wood. The nuts are lightly roasted and caramelised, and the mellowness still predominates.
The finish is rather light, with a round, vanilla-infused nougatine.
"Typical Barbadian woodiness and texture, topped by notes notes.... "
