Saint James Single Cask 1997 – 30 Years AOC Martinique is a particularly emblematic vintage from the Saint James house. This vintage comes from the first harvest and the first distillation carried out under the specifications of the AOC Martinique, making 1997 a historic year for the appellation.
Made from pure sugarcane juice , this rhum agricole is distilled in a traditional Creole column still before being aged in the tropical climate of the cellars of Sainte-Marie, Martinique. For this edition, the rum was aged for 29 years in a single 200-liter American oak barrel .
The production is limited to just 170 bottles , making it a particularly exclusive reference.
The 1997 vintage holds a special place in the history of Saint James and the Martinique AOC. The year was marked by a particularly dry period, allowing for the harvest of sugarcane that reached full maturity under favorable conditions. This vintage thus stands as a true testament to the beginning of the appellation's history.
