Talisker Port Ruighe is a single malt Scotch whisky from the Isle of Skye. This expression takes its name from the island's main port, where thousands upon thousands of casks of Port wine were unloaded. It is in homage to this heritage that this Talisker has undergone double maturation in Port wine casks .
This whisky is usually slightly peaty, but not because of the technique used to dry its malt. This is because the spring water used to make it flows through peat fields.
Jérémie's tasting notes
On the nose : The peat is definitely present but it reveals a certain hidden freshness behind it, with some fruit reminiscent of plum.
On the palate : The attack is frank, quite dry, it releases the peaty and slightly roasted malt accompanied by spices, a slight bitterness reminiscent of red berries, the smoky notes turn towards a rather smooth cocoa.
The finish : Quite long, with peat and a slightly spicy note.
