Trois Rivières Bois D'Inde takes its name from one of the rivers which border the area of the same name. Created in 1660 by Nicolas Fouquet, it also includes the Oman and Saint Pierre rivers. Second part of the trilogy dedicated to these rivers, this agricultural rum is a blend of 11 great vintages . Among these very old rums, aged in French and American oak barrels, is the very rare 1979 vintage.
It is a limited series of 2400 bottles.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose immediately takes us to the heart of abundant, rich and fatty woody notes. The nuts are melted into a fatty paste whose grain passes slowly and heavily over the nostrils. It is also a fragrant rum, with mature, dark, and even dried fruits. A truly tropical thickness reigns here, as if in an undergrowth littered with exotic and spicy bark.
Airing does not erase this sober and serious maturity. Like an old leather-covered box, the rum contains a treasure of concentrated dried fruit paste. Old nuts materialize in a glass of Banyuls or Sherry wine, with a complex and delicious oxidation. The cane concentrates in a thick drop which flows over candied wood.
The palate is sweet and fruity, light like fresh cane juice. The intensity takes off in an instant, but gradually. On a springboard of precious wood, melted spices and dried exotic fruits suddenly slide to the fore, for a tropical and radiant snapshot. The nuts have emerged from their undergrowth, they now enjoy happy days on the delicate swell. Freshness and lightness are essential, the rum is clear and luminous.
The finish returns to the essential: fresh cane and its peppery fiber.
