Twelve Réunion Jamaïque Whisky Cask Finish 63.5°: Description and customer reviews

This Twelve Réunion Jamaïque rum is a blend developed by the Twelve distillery and finished in whisky barrels. Twelve Spiritueux is a whisky distillery based in Laguiole, Aubrac.

The blend comprises no less than 4 rums, the first of which comes from the Rivière du Mât distillery. This Réunionese rum accounts for 40% of the blend.
The other 3 rums come from Jamaica, from the Monymusk (30%), Worthy Park (20%) and Hampden (10%) distilleries.

Bottling is carried out without filtration, coloring or reduction.

550 bottles were produced for the French market.

Nico's tasting notes

On the nose, don't be fooled by the candy-like quality that appears innocently at first contact. Softly, tenderly, it serves up notes of williams pear, green banana, then peaches in syrup. Yet we can already discern a few exotic fruits that are eagerly anticipating.

With a little rest and aeration, a light veil of smoke covers our fruit, giving it a touch of Scotland (or Laguiole, as it happens). The storm rumbles beneath the toasted cereal, and the tropical fruits are now making themselves heard.

On the palate, the malt makes a slight appearance on the attack, long enough to get us hooked on a woodiness that's at once tender, toasty and rich with chocolate, nuts and roasted cereals. From the veins of oak flows a creamy, vegetal milk, filled with flavors of tropical fruit, incense and exotic peppercorns, with a hint of copper, like the shadow of a still gradually covering the whole.

The finish is long, with a core, a mineral nuance, and exotic fruits that are far too ripe but so intense.

"A beautiful composition that takes us for a long time for a tasting... "
