Warehouse #1 TECA Rolling Calf White 63°: Description and customer reviews

Warehouse #1 TECA Rolling Calf is a bottling from Jamaica's famous Long Pond distillery.

This white rum has been selected by Czech bottler Warehouse #1.
Mark TECA is one of Long Pond's most powerful aromas. Its ester content is 1300 g/hlap.

Rolling calf refers to a creature from Jamaican folklore. The spirit of a deceased person is said to take the form of an animal to roam the night, searching for souls. This creature is depicted with fire and smoke coming from its nostrils and eyes, and with a large chain around its neck. Legend has it that anyone can hear this spirit, but it can only be seen by those who believe in ghosts.

Nico's tasting notes

The nose is an explosion of unreasonably ripe exotic fruit. Their pits have imploded, their sweet-and-sour flesh has splashed all over the glass, and their fermentation has developed salty nuances of black olive in brine.

Aeration emphasizes the "grand aroma" character of this rum, with typical olive notes and a certain creamy sweetness, as well as a slight hint of copper. Concentration is at its peak, and the resting period then introduces a more pastry-like register, still very typical of the style.

On the palate, it's once again the unmistakable typicity of the great aroma that comes to mind. Served by a coppery, metallic feel, notes of olive in brine explode, evaporate, and give way to an infinite greediness of stewed banana, roasted pineapple, overripe mango. Molasses melts into pine sap, stone and resin, all with a creamy character and irresistible pastry concentration.

In the finish, a delicious little cinnamon syrup has the right idea of intruding to add a definitively gourmand and regressive signature.

"A rum that is unreservedly in the tradition of great aroma...".
