Zacapa 23 years Solera 70 cl 40°: Description and customer reviews

Zacapa 23 solera is a blend of several rums aged from 6 to 23 years, themselves distilled from pure cane honey, which is quite unusual for rum production.

Ageing takes place at an altitude of 2300 metres, to slow down the process and allow the barrels to slowly transmit their aromas. Maturation in the solera system enables a harmonious blend of several profiles, as well as the use of different barrel types (bourbon, sherry, Pedro Ximénez wine).

Laurent's tasting notes

Its color is caramel with mahogany highlights.

On the nose, caramel and vanilla are the backbone of this rum. However, it is not without a certain freshness. Notes of honey and wood add a welcome complexity.

On the palate, the attack is very soft, with caramel reigning supreme. The texture coats the palate well. A discreet fruity note (on the grape) manages to make room for itself.

The finish is moderately long and relatively straightforward, with caramel but also honey after a few moments. Sweet and fresh at the same time.

Vanilla and caramel flavors, mild and not at all aggressive. Meets expectations.
    Excellent.

  2. Bernadette

  3. Olivier Alfred Stouvenel

    I love....tres bon rhum...

  4. Matmat

A little held back by its price at the outset, but without doubt the best rum I've ever tasted.
a beautiful color, flavors of vanilla, caramel, woody with a long finish
    A very good product!

  5. Customer

Rhum perhaps a little expensive to drink every day, but it's the one I prefer.
    It is and remains excellent.

  6. Maëlle

A gift for my father, who loves rum. He was not disappointed and loves it.

  7. Customer

Good quality rum with a very smooth taste. I prefer Zacapa XO, but it's considerably more expensive and harder to find.

  10. kafrinedofe

    Very good product

  11. M. TIRONNEAU

The 23-year-old Zacapa is still a benchmark, but this Solera seems less sweet and heady than others in the past.

  12. Sitting Bulles

Warning: this is a subjective opinion!
Zacapa 23 has been my favorite rum for the last ten years.
It's an intensely sweet (?!), rich, wonderfully complex and subtle delight.

  13. Philippe R.

Initially rather sweet on the nose and palate, it then unfolds its full potential.

  14. Louison

A very fine rum, with notes of salted butter caramel. On the palate, it's smooth and light. Zacapa surprises me again and again. I highly recommend this product!

  15. Laurent Danois

Zacapa 23 ans is mild, without being a cough syrup (a feat when you see some of the other brands!).
I liked the design of the old bottle, but the new one is even better!

  16. Vincent

    It's fine, it's smooth, it's complex. In short, a MUST !!!!!!!

If you like it, we recommend :

  • We stay in Guatemala for another rum made from cane honey. The result here is drier and woodier...
  • We're keeping the sweetness, but this time it's coconut-dominated, a delicacy...
