Balblair is a Scottish distillery located in the Highlands.
Traces of activity date back to 1749. However, its actual existence dates back to 1790, when John Ross built the distillery.

Later, with the development of the railroads, Balblair was transferred. Alexandre Cowan bought it in 1894. A year later, the distillery moved to another location. This is the current production site.

Unfortunately, in 1911, the economy was at half-mast. Balblair was mothballed. Occupied by the army during the Second World War, Balblair passed into the hands of Robert James "Bertie" Cumming in 1948. Production resumed a year later.

It was a new beginning for the distillery. The owners enlarged the distillery in 1964, then sold it in 1970 toHiram Walker of Canada. Similarly, improvements were made in the 1980s. Then, in 1996, Inver House Distillers took over ownership.

Finally, there's something special about the Balblair range. Since 2007, only vintage versions have been available. So, for example, we have Balblair 1991, 2000 and 2005. Read less
