Gosling
Gosling is a rum brand from Bermuda, the English archipelago off the east coast of the United States. Gosling is known the world over for its Black Seal, produced for over 150 years.
The story of this family business begins in 1806 with the arrival of James Goslong in Saint George, Bermuda's main port. On his way to the United States, this son of a spirits merchant was forced to stop and decided to open a store.
In 1857, the first oak barrels arrived in Bermuda, and the first trials began. It was only three years later that the Black Seal formula was finalized and marketed.
Until the First World War, rum was sold directly from the barrel or in champagne bottles, which were then sealed with black wax (hence the term "black seal").
Over the years, Black Seal has become a product associated with the identity of Bermuda, as successive generations took over the helm of the company, and in 1985 Malcolm Gosling initiated the export of rums.
In addition to its flagship rum, the brand today offers a rich range of several products. Read less
