A long tradition

Founded in 1753, Hampden Distillery specializes exclusively in the distillation of Heavy Pot Still rums. Its "High Ester" rums are crafted from knowledge handed down from generation to generation, using ferments conceived over a century ago.

4 pot stills

4 Forsyth and Vendome pot stills enable us to produce a variety of rums ranging from 50 to 1600 esters (the maximum allowed, given that the distillery is capable of up to 3000 esters). The higher the ester range, the more intense the rum bouquet.

Each type of rum produced by the distillery has a purpose: blending other rums around the world, the food industry (for the German and Dutch markets in particular), flavorings, perfumes....

Independent bottlers have led the way...

Virtually all independent bottlers offer aged rums from the Hampden distillery: Velier, Samaroli, Silver Seal, Compagnie des Indes, Cadenhead, Hunter Laing (under its Kill Devil brand), Duncan Taylor, TCRL, Berry Bros and Renegade...

...before Hampden produced rums under its own brand name

After launching its Rum Fire white rum brand in 2011, it's indeed only since 2018 that Hampden has brought its own range of aged rums to market under its own name. Read less
