J & A Mitchell & Co is involved in distillation (Springbank, Glengyle), blending (Campbeltown Loch, for example) and independent bottling (Cadenhead).

Historically linked to the birth of Springbank in 1828, J & A Mitchell was born in 1897 and continued its development until acquiring an old trading house, Cadenhead, in 1969, then setting up the Glengyle distillery in the early 2000s.

Its name refers to John Mitchell, one of the two brothers who acquired Springbank in 1837, and his son Alexander. Read less
