Red Bonny Dark Rum is a rum from Guyana, but also a French creation. Pagès Védrenne is based in Nuit saint Georges, Burgundy. It has specialized in fruit creams, liqueurs and syrups since 1923. It distributes some of the Bielle rums and Rhums Vieux de Marie Galante from the same distillery. This contact with the world of rum is at the origin of Red Bonny Dark Rum.

Red Bonny was a female pirate born in Ireland in 1702. After emigrating to America with her parents, her fiery temperament led her to adventure, and later to piracy. She scoured the Caribbean before being imprisoned in Jamaica with her lover Rackham the Red. She then returned to Great Britain and opened a tavern where she regaled her customers with her stories over a glass of rum.

We've chosen a rum from Guyana to pay tribute to this character. The mythical still of the Demerara region, the Port Mourant double wooden retort still, produces rich, full-bodied rums. These are rums with a spicy character, often described as "talking gunpowder". This dark rum is a molasses rum typical of the English tradition from the Navy's heyday.
