Like agricultural rum, cachaça is a brandy obtained by distilling fresh cane juice, or vesou. However, this beverage, produced exclusively in Brazil, is different in that it is distilled at low degrees, enabling it to be bottled immediately after distillation, unlike rum, which generally undergoes reduction phases. Cachaça can also be combined with toasted cereals.

Founded in 1906, Thoquino is a distillery located in the Campos region of northeastern Rio State, which enjoys a sunny climate and fertile soil. Thoquino grows its own sugarcane plants, enabling it to control the quality of its harvests.

Thoquino perpetuates the Brazilian traditions of cachaça distillation, which first appeared in the country in the 15th century. Read less
