Bermuda
The Bermuda archipelago consists of 123 small islands in the Atlantic, not far from the American side. Its connection with rum began in 1806 when the navigator James Gosling ran aground on one of these islands. He decided soon after to create the famous "Gosling's Black Seal Rum".
Rum distillate is the raw material for Bermuda rums. It comes from Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad and other Caribbean islands. Unlike its neighbors, Bermuda's climate and soils are not conducive to growing sugar cane. This is why the raw material is necessarily imported for the manufacture of rum.
The originality of Gosling's rum, the oldest and most important rum brand in the country, is that it benefits from a double distillation. The first in a Charentais still to enhance the flavors of the rum, and the second in a distillation column to add sweetness. This recipe has remained unchanged since its creation and the production has not increased in order not to affect the quality.
Gosling's Rum produces Black Seal, Rum Swizzle, Gold Rum and Old rum. Read less
