The Bermuda archipelago consists of 123 small islands in the Atlantic, not far from the American shores. Its connection with rum began in 1806, when navigator James Gosling ran aground on one of the islands. Shortly afterwards, he decided to create the famous "Gosling's Black Seal Rum".

Rum distillate is the raw material for Bermuda rums. It comes from Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad and other Caribbean islands. Unlike its neighbors, Bermuda's climate and soils are not conducive to growing sugarcane. For this reason, the raw material for rum production must be imported.

The originality of rum from Gosling, the country's oldest and largest rum brand, lies in its double distillation. The first in a Charentais still to enhance the rum's flavors, and the second in a distillation column to add sweetness. This recipe has remained unchanged since its creation, and production has not increased to maintain quality.

Gosling's Rum produces Black Seal, Rum Swizzle, Gold Rum and Old rum. Read less
