Bayou rum is distilled from sugar cane grown in southern Louisiana in the United States. The molasses is then produced in the oldest family-run sugar mill in the United States.
Distillation takes place in copper pot stills.
Here, White Rum is combined with the natural aromas of wild berries known in the US as Mayhaw Berry. These small, cranberry-like berries are harvested in May. They have a tangy taste and are commonly eaten as jelly.
The berries are generally pinkish-red, hence the color and name of this infused rum.
