Dictador Cartagena is a blend of molasses rums distilled in Colombia. The roasted coffee aromas of the final result are typical of the brand's rums.
This rum is a tribute to this magnificent colonial-style city founded in 1533 on Colombia's northeast coast. Cartagena is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose, roasted nuts jump out at you without a doubt. Walnuts take over the bouquet of aromas, they are quite fatty and caramelized, rather tempting. The praline also has a few vegetal nuances, and above all is well toasted. A hint of tangy sugar adds a little lightness.
With aeration, the nuts are put back on the grill to give them even more body. They take on the air of pecans, even a handful of salted cashews. The roundness is assured by a lightly wooded maple syrup.
On the palate, the attack is tasty and balanced. Naturally, it focuses on nuts of all kinds, with pecans once again taking a prominent place in the picture. But we also discover an intriguing vegetal side, between dried herbs and aromatics. Toasted wood clears the way, leading us to a slightly caramelized pecan finish.
"Nut lovers (especially pecan lovers) should flock to this rum..."
