Dzama Cuvée Personnelle Lucien Fohine Millésime 1984 is a tribute to the brand's founder. Lucien Fohine was the man who, in the 1980s, sensed the potential of the distillery adjoining the Nosy-Be island sugar refinery. He developed it, then promoted his rum through the Dzama brand.
This 28-year-old rum was bottled by his son Franck. Distilled in July 1984, it was bottled in November 2012, with an estimated angels' share of over 70%. Ageing took place in old whisky casks, as is the tradition at Dzama. Indeed, as a great whisky lover, Mr. Fohine used to bring in casks for his own use. Naturally, he kept these empty barrels to reuse them for aging his rums.
