Four Roses Small Batch is a blend of 4 different bourbons, from two mashbills fermented with 2 in-house yeast strains. The proportion of rye is higher than in the average Kentucky Straight Bourbon, making this a rather spicy whiskey. These bourbons are aged for a minimum of 6-7 years in new American oak barrels.
This cuvée has received a spectacular number of medals and awards.

On the nose 👃🏻: we have a product which expresses itself well and which I wouldn't say is extravagant, it's really soft and balanced. However, the spices are there, brown sugar and vanilla obviously, with a nice fruitiness that's hard to pin down. It's lemony at first, with a hint of orange, then with a rather floral note. The woodiness is light, blending in with the rest and adding a coffee note with aeration.
On the palate 👅: the attack is spicy, the rye expresses itself but moderately. It's really nicely sweet and vanilla-like on the nose, with a little cinnamon and mint adding a touch of spiciness and a fresh edge. The texture is thick on the palate, it's very round, which allows it to line the palate well. The fruitiness is light, as is the woodiness, although you can feel the toast of the barrel. The caramel notes are first and foremost, like soft toffee sweets after a long aeration. A little sweetness
The finish is rather long, it sticks to the palate quite well with that sweet sweetness of corn and candied orange peel, it's simple but very well done 👌
Not much risk with this bottle, which has won numerous medals in its category for over 12 years now. The tasting is delightful, and a good time is had every time 🌺
