Nico's tasting notes

In brief: nuts - coconut - woody - tobacco - vanilla - balanced - intense

On the nose, we've just filled our basket with a fine assortment of nuts. These are plentiful and rich, with the peanut showing all its fat. A well-dressed woodiness quickly greets us, with a balance of tobacco, coconut and vanilla. This wood quickly rounds out, while retaining a well-concentrated heart of solvent, putting you at ease with its comfortable, mellow side. A few candied orange peels invite themselves into the autumnal basket, along with a milk chocolate that soon joins the coconut milk.
On airing, the basket of nuts goes to the chestnut frying pan, while the woody toast also goes to the flame. The orange peel has dried, the zest is more bitter, the wood releases all its solvent and the spices roast on its surface. When the wood is removed from the fire and allowed to rest, it releases powerful notes of toasted coconut. Its warm heart then melts into notes of vanilla and caramel. It becomes increasingly gourmand with age.

The attack on the palate is striking, with the nuts still full-bodied, powdery and fatty. The rum is as powerful as it is warm, as imposing as it is flavorful. It's simply a block of rum, in other words, a simple but perfectly executed rum, just the way we like it. The woodiness is beautiful, and the notes of coconut, tobacco and vanilla are luscious and concentrated.

The finish is long, prolonging the simple pleasure of toasted coconut and woody notes.

"A truly good rum that gives immediate and intense pleasure..."

In addition to our own tasting notes, here's what bottler Tristan Prodhomme has to say about it: rich, woody, fruity and slightly smoky nose, with leather, orange, caramelized brown sugar, honey, gingerbread and spices (clove, cardamom); smooth, finely woody and almost earthy palate, with hints of cellar and old wood. Taut from start to finish, powerful and airy.

so far one of the best molasses rums I've had! Excellent value for money

Travellers at over 60 degrees. It always sends happiness. Not for little mouths. Hummm what a delight. Maybe even better than the 10 Anniversary.

  3. Detree SEBASTIEN

the alcohol isn't very well integrated, so you kind of miss it, unlike 10 Anniversaire.
