Produced by the Mhoba Rum Distillery, located in Malalane, South Africa , this rum is made from pure sugarcane juice of the local Nkomazi variety.
The name Satara refers to a Rest Camp in Krueger Park, a nature reserve in the country.
Produced and bottled by Mhoba as part of the Itinéraires collection (carefully aged wines), it showcases artisanal expertise and a quest for authenticity. The particularly long fermentation process , which can last up to three weeks , fosters the development of an intense and complex aromatic profile.
Distillation is carried out in a traditional pot still, with a high-ester approach (467.7 g/hlap) aimed at concentrating the most expressive aromatic compounds. The rum is then aged for 50 months in single casks of ex-bourbon Woodford Reserve rum, giving it a unique character.
Bottled at cask strength at 64.6°, without reduction, this rum is offered in a limited edition of 282 numbered bottles.
