Old Pulteney 2010 Flotilla 46°: Description and customer reviews

Famous for the distinctive style of its whiskies, both gourmand and iodized, Old Pulteney Flotilla 2010 whisky takes you off the north coast of the Highlands.

In 2012, the Old Pulteney distillery created a specific cuvee for the French market: Flotilla.
The aim of this cuvée is to reveal the most representative expression of the Old Pulteney style.
The special feature of Old Pulteney Flotilla whiskies is that each cuvée is vintage.

For the 2010 vintage, Old Pulteney Flotilla remains true to its maritime profile, notably due to its proximity to the sea, as the distillery is located on the port of Wick.

Florian's tasting notes

The dress is golden. Tears are scattered, fine and slow.

On the nose, we find the distillery's character around fruit, it's ample and pleasant. Full sails on the rich bourbon barrel, vanilla apple, soft caramel, butter, all lightly malted. A little time allows the relief to reveal itself, one could almost speak of peat, but it's a very fine spray turning more to earth, iodine and salt.
More than that, a feeling of rust.

On the palate, the texture is fine, with fatness and volume, the attack is round and peppery.
Vanilla caramel and baked apple soon take center stage. Fruit, green apple and lemon, followed by green malt and licorice.
A salty, bitter maritime feeling closes the debate.

The finish is long, undoubtedly dominated by pepper, herbs and iodine.
Drying.

"A very fine expression of the Highlands. The typicality of the bourbon cask gives it a gourmet flavour, and the freshness of the seaside is perfectly felt... "
