Père Labat L'Or is an agricultural rum raised in the tropical climate of the island of Marie-Galante. Made from pure sugarcane juice distilled in a Creole column, it is a fine example of the savoir-faire of Marie-Galante. This rum has spent 3 years in oak casks, which does not in itself constitute aging, but has enabled it to enjoy a long rest while adorning itself with an attractive golden color.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose opens with a cane in full metamorphosis, which we catch turning into a marshmallow. Soft, almost milky strawberry aromas, with a slight acidity and a hint of tartness.
Aeration brings us surprising aromas of tanned cooking, while the cane continues to melt, now taking on the air of sweet almond nougat.
On the palate, the natural cane takes the lead, returning to its vegetal, herbaceous and slightly spicy flavors. It begins to melt again on contact with the taste buds, and takes on the colors of sweet, crushed red fruits. This fruit salad is sprinkled with spices such as tonka bean, for a gourmet, festive blend.
The finish is light, with a touch of cane sugar and butterscotch.
"A unique profile that presents the cane in a very softly fruity light..."
