This Plantation Barbados 2014 rum comes from the West Indies Rum Distillery (WIRD) located in Barbados .
This vintage is a 2023 selection from the Plantation house's "single Cask" collection.
This is a blend of rums distilled in 2014 from molasses in pot still and column still .
The rum spent 6 years in the tropics for its first maturation in ex-bourbon oak barrels.
Subsequently, the aging process continued in the Southwest of France in cognac casks from the Ferrand house.
Under the guidance of cellar master Alexandre Gabriel, a 12-month aging process in a Rivesaltes barrel was carried out.
Each bottle is numbered and has a barrel number which may vary.
Jérémie's tasting notes
On the nose: numerous floral and fruity notes rise from the glass. Upon closer inspection, one discerns a subtle, patinated oakiness, a hint of acacia doughnut, heather blossoms, candied apricot, and honey. Over time, the profile evolves towards more caramelized and vanilla nuances.
On the palate: the attack is soft and supple. A slight herbaceous note, reminiscent of fennel, develops before giving way to ripe tropical fruits, coated in honey and wax. With time, the fruits become more candied and the spices (cardamom, white pepper, clove) become more prominent.
Finish: on roasted notes of cocoa and toasted nuts, with a slight lingering herbaceous touch that brings a subtle bitterness.
