Planteray Rum Australia 2016 is a molasses rum produced at the Beenleigh Artisan Distillery, located in the Eagleby region. Part of the Oceana collection, dedicated to vintage rums from island terroirs and remote regions, this bottling showcases Australian craftsmanship. Distilled in 2016 , it benefits from 10 years of aging, split between Australia and France.
Distillation is carried out in a John Dore still , using a traditional method employed by the distillery. Founded in 1884 on the banks of the Albert River, Beenleigh is one of Australia's oldest rum distilleries. Its history is closely linked to sugarcane cultivation in Queensland and the local tradition of producing rum from molasses.
The aging process begins in Australia , where the rum rests for 8 years in ex-bourbon barrels . It is then transferred to France to continue maturing for a further 2 years in barrels from Maison Ferrand .
