Planteray Rum Barbados 2022 – 186g of esters is a traditional molasses rum produced at the West Indies Rum Distillery. This limited edition bottling is offered at cask strength , with a natural strength of 65% ABV.
Fermentation takes place over approximately two weeks , followed by double distillation in two historic pot stills , named John Dore and Old Gregg . This production method is rooted in Barbadian distilling tradition and yields a unique expression of fermented molasses.
The aging process begins in the tropical climate of Barbados, where the rum spends one year in ex-bourbon barrels. It is then shipped to France to continue maturing for a further three years in ex-cognac casks from Maison Ferrand. This double aging process, characteristic of the house, combines initial tropical maturation with continental aging.
This cuvée is part of a trio in the Les Anthologistes collection, brought together by varying ester concentrations to explore different expressions of Barbadian rum. Each cask undergoes a specific selection process, and bottling is carried out without dilution, thus preserving its natural strength. Produced in a limited edition of 180 bottles.
