Quorhum Antilia 40°: Description and customer reviews

Quorhum Antilia is a molasses rum produced in the Dominican Republic by Casa Oliver.

The Quorhum collection brings together the expertise of four master blenders from Cuba, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic and Colombia.

This rum has been aged for up to 10 years in ex-bourbon and ex-rye whiskey American oak barrels, according to traditional Cuban and Dominican methods.

Jérémie's tasting notes

On the nose:
Notes of vanilla, honey, and caramel rise from the glass. As you approach, you perceive wood delicately infused with rum, leather, and tobacco, before a generous basket of candied fruits—dates, dried figs, and prunes—settles in for a long time.

In the mouth:
The attack is direct, carried by a round, honeyed texture, dominated by notes of cooked brown sugar. The candied fruits already perceived on the nose quickly return, accompanied by a touch of bitterness reminiscent of orange peel and roasted nuances reminiscent of honeyed cocoa. Then, a slight bitterness evoking freshly grated cardamom gradually unfolds, along with a discreet hint of gray pepper.

The final:
Quite long, it prolongs the citrus peel notes, accompanied by cardamom, before evolving towards kumquat accents, where a gentle sweetness balances the whole. The oak, present but in the background, provides a beautiful structure and harmoniously supports the finish.
