Rittenhouse 100 Proof Bottled In Bond 50°: Description and customer reviews

Rittenhouse 100 Proof Bottled In Bond is a straight Rye whiskey.

It is at least 51% distilled from rye.

Florian's tasting notes

The dress is amber. The tears are fine and very slow, numerous.

What a gourmet nose! Ripe banana and melon. Then a fresh, floral bouquet of violets and lilac. Complex and deep too, spices like cinnamon, incense, caramelized butter and then cake batter.

On the palate, it's greedy, with an all-encompassing, silky texture. The flowers are impressive: lilac, violet and jasmine. A fruity, pastry landing: fudge, melon and banana. Finally, licorice, cinnamon and rye for a fine finish.

The finish is long and pleasant, carried by sweet licorice and cinnamon. Retro-olfaction offers a lovely jasmine note.

"Superb whiskey, very well balanced, its roundness never sickening. Lots of floral freshness. The fruitiness is of the finest effect. Such an aromatic palette and such good length in the mouth at this price, it's a gift..."

On the nose 👃🏻: after finding the right distance from the glass, as the alcohol vapors are quite strong at first, rye is clearly in the foreground. The cereal notes and moderately pronounced woodiness bring a hint of caramelized nuts. The alcohol mellows a little with aeration, so give it time. There's cinnamon, pepper and a little plum.

On the palate 👅: it's mellow and gourmand, but at the same time quite spicy on the attack. The 50% are punchy with ginger, pepper on the tongue, then butterscotch following right behind. Our pepper note continues generously, the butterscotch is increasingly embellished with nutmeg and all the more woody afterwards, a little roasted even. It remains very spicy throughout the mouth, almost spicy.

The finish is moderately long with the rye and vanilla flavors standing out at first. But it's the spices that hold up particularly well, it stays lively for long minutes 👌

⚡️ This is a Rye that keeps all its promises in terms of intensity. We have something that sends quite a bit on the spices and at the same time retains a pleasant unctuousness in the mouth 🔥 Don't look there for great complexity but it's well done 👍
